We don’t like to think about fires. We only notice whether or not trucks show up when there is a fire. So much is going on behind the scenes that needs our attention. Pride and generational legacy can stand in the way of progress. Most important, fire chiefs say that honest conversations at the local level are the most important step to sorting out multi-layered issues. By that I mean, an honest look at fire org structure, training and yes, pay. Some fire fighters cannot afford to live in their own communities. I would love to have this conversation in MuniSquare and appreciate all your work here.
