Excellent read of the history of this great resource. I'm so glad I still get to walk the trails I used as a kid. It's a great place to bring active dogs (always bring your own bags and pack it out with you) and just get away from the hustle

But Toni Preckwinkle has definitely not had as good a tenure as the impression given. There is still a clear bias for Cook County resources to go to her favored constituencies over those she does not (county roads in South suburban Markham, Harvey, CCH and Matteson are repaved 2-3x before areas like Crestwood, Oak Forest, Tinley or Orland - E.g., Central Ave near George Dunne Golf Course in the southern Forest Preserves has been in dire need for 10+ years)

Hey thanks! I don't have the expertise/knowledge to offer an opinion on some of the distributional questions you mention. I guess I would just offer that way too often, politics around here focuses *only* on the distributional questions, to the exclusion of whether public services generally are improving. I'm sure there are things that the County can and should be doing differently, and the fact that the Forest Preserves are being run better doesn't absolve anyone of that. But my sense is just about everyone's experience on this score has improved at minimal taxpayer cost, and that's a win worth celebrating.
