The Single Stair Reform Bill at the state level is Chicago's best option for this reform IMO. So much momentum from the governor's proposals around housing, I think he'll use a lot of his own political capital to get it across the finish line. Don't forget to call your representatives and senators about this and other parts of the BUILD Plan!

This is wonderfully comprehensive and written. One question-As it stands any MF building in Chicago with 4+ units or 4+ stories requires an elevator by code here. The cost of the elevator and the power upgrades are eye watering. Any savings a single stair system would provide would be nullified by this cost. Did I miss something or does the bill not address this?
